CASA ES ROMANÍ

Located in the urban centre of Santanyí, this single-family house is developed over a ground floor and two upper levels, reinterpreting the town’s traditional architecture through a refined contemporary language. The façade, executed in Santanyí stone with cement joints, conveys solidity and rootedness, integrating naturally into the existing built context.

The volumetric configuration and the organisation of the outdoor spaces respond to a clear intention to create intimate and sheltered environments, in contrast to the density of the urban fabric. At the rear, an inner terrace with a porch becomes a natural extension of the home, incorporating an outdoor kitchen that reinforces the social and everyday use of the space.

The garden, defined by a simple and clean layout, is resolved with a lawn surface that hosts an ancient olive tree as its central element, bringing identity and a connection to the Mediterranean landscape. At the far end, a mirror-like pool integrates quietly, reinforcing a sense of calm and visual continuity.

On the upper level, the dwelling culminates in a rooftop terrace offering open views over the town of Santanyí. This space, equipped with a jacuzzi, is conceived as a place for contemplation and rest, where architecture dissolves into the urban landscape and the passage of time.

The interior of the home is characterised by the generosity of its spaces and the fluidity between uses, with the ground floor conceived as a single open-plan area where the kitchen, dining, and living spaces coexist naturally. This spatial continuity is reinforced by the influx of natural light and the direct connection with the outdoor spaces.

The kitchen, generously proportioned and organised around a central island, becomes the core of the home, combining functionality with architectural presence. The selected materials—oak wood with knots, light-coloured aged and bush-hammered stone flooring, and exposed pine beams—bring texture and authenticity, creating a warm and balanced atmosphere.

The different interior spaces maintain a material and formal coherence, where neutral and natural tones enhance the light and amplify the perception of volume. The use of stone and wood is combined with contemporary solutions that provide comfort without renouncing the essence of traditional construction.

The result is a serene and timeless interior architecture, where each element contributes to a slower way of living, deeply connected to its setting and driven by a clear sense of longevity.
